At the end of May, we gathered to celebrate something deeply needed in today’s world—the art of slow living. Set in the heart of Mexico and infused with rich culinary heritage, our signature 5-day retreat offered a soulful invitation to pause, reconnect, and immerse ourselves in the wisdom of tradition, community, and the natural world.

A 5-Day Immersion of Presence and Connection

This retreat was more than a getaway—it was a return to the essentials. We designed each day with intention, blending hands-on traditional Mexican cooking with wellness practices to support both body and mind. Guests experienced daily yoga, sound healing, a traditional hot lodge ceremony and creative ceramics workshops, all in a setting that encouraged presence and joy.

Cooking as Cultural Connection

Food was at the heart of everything. But this wasn’t just about eating—it was about learning, participating, and honoring the roots of each ingredient and every technique. Even the utensils we used told a story: handmade pieces of art, crafted by local artisans. We learned where they came from, how they were made, and why they matter. This deeper understanding added layers of appreciation to each dish we prepared and shared.

Traditional Wellness as a Reset for Modern Life

In our fast-paced society, we rarely take the time to truly rest. Through grounding wellness practices, we gave ourselves permission to breathe again. Morning yoga sessions and evening sound healing ceremonies allowed our bodies to release tension and our minds to find stillness. These rituals helped reset our nervous systems and restore a sense of calm clarity—something we often forget we need.

A Journey into Mayan Wisdom

One of the most powerful experiences of the retreat was our visit to a Mayan inland community. There, we were warmly welcomed by an admirable local family whose way of life is a model of true sustainability. They honor the natural elements, use only local/home grown ingredients and live completely plastic-free, creating their own utensils and bowls for eating out of seeds and other natural materials. Their daily practices reminded us that sustainability isn’t a trend—it’s a legacy, rooted in deep respect for the earth and our place within it. The level of peace felt in their home was something unbelieveble, to be able to experiecne it, such a gift. Thank you for opening the doors of your wonderful home to us & for making the tastiest food we had ever tried!

Intimate Meals, Shared Stories

Every dining experience became a celebration. We gathered in intimate settings to enjoy fresh, vibrant local flavors, prepared with intention and love. The meals were more than nourishment—they were moments of connection, shared around the table with laughter, storytelling, and deep gratitude. The art of traditional cooking came alive in every bite, reminding us of the joy that comes from slowing down and savoring together.

A Celebration to Remember

We closed this transformative retreat with a night to remember—celebrating culture, life, and the beautiful connections we made. In the private gardens of our residence, under the stars, we danced. Our final evening of salsa dancing was filled with laughter, joy, and a spirit of celebration that perfectly embodied everything this retreat was about: presence, connection, and the beauty of shared experience.

Living the Wisdom

As we return to our daily lives, we carry with us the lessons of slow living, sustainability, and community. In a world that constantly demands more, this retreat reminded us that less—when done with intention—can be so much more. By honoring ancestral wisdom, reconnecting with nature and choosing wellness, we create a more conscious, fulfilling way of being.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on this unforgettable journey. Until next time—may you continue to cook slowly, breathe deeply, and live fully.

From the moment I arrived, I was immersed in the vibrant culture and flavors of Mexico. The highlight was learning to make the best mole I ever tasted with talented chefs from Oaxaca. Their expertise and passion for traditional Mexican cooking were truly inspiring.

The food we created was nothing short of amazing, and each meal was a celebration of the flavors we had learned to appreciate more deeply through hands-on cooking. I also made wonderful new friends, bonding with fellow food enthusiasts who shared this unforgettable journey.

I wholeheartedly recommend this culinary retreat to anyone looking to enhance their cooking skills while enjoying the beauty and culture of Tulum. It was an experience I will cherish forever!
