A Return to Slowness: Najil Chak Announces an Intimate Art Retreat in Tulum, October 2026

"A soft place to land—where nothing is required of you, and everything begins exactly where you are."

In a world that moves too quickly to notice itself, Najil Chak offers a gentle pause, shared among a small circle of kindred spirits. A space to slow until time feels spacious again, to create from instinct & connection to the land rather than expectations & preassure to fit in, but most importantly to remember what it means to feel present in your own life.

From October 28 to November 1, 2026, the Slow Living Art Retreat will unfold quietly in the jungle of Tulum — not as a large-scale event, but as an intimate gathering designed for presence, creativity, and meaningful connection in a pristine & inspiring environment.

A Home for Creativity and Stillness

Set within the private sanctuary of Najil Chak - Tulum Art Residence, the experience feels closer to staying in a thoughtfully designed home than attending a traditional retreat.

Mornings begin slowly—nurturing breakfast, barefoot on cool stone floors, with the sounds of the jungle easing you into the day. There is no rush. No urgency.

Throughout the retreat, guests are gently guided through creative practices such as:

  • Working with clay in mindful pottery sessions

  • Exploring natural dyes and pigments drawn from the earth

  • Weaving and textile rituals rooted in tradition

  • Journaling and reflective creative exercises

These are not about mastery or outcome, but about rediscovering the quiet joy of making something with your hands.

Afternoons open into space—time to rest by the pool, walk barefoot through the gardens, or simply do nothing at all.

Wellness as a Gentle Practice

Wellness here is not structured or overwhelming. It is woven softly into each day.

There are moments for:

  • Morning yoga and breathwork

  • Sound healing concerts

  • Cacao ceremonies shared in community

  • Evenings around the fire

Everything is included & optional. Guests are encouraged to listen inward and choose what feels right. Meals are shared, nourishing, and prepared with care—an extension of the same philosophy: slow, intentional, and rooted in connection.

Designed for a Small Circle

With space for a limited number of guests, the retreat is intentionally kept small.

It draws those who are seeking:

  • A reset from fast-paced routines

  • A deeper connection to creativity

  • Time alone without loneliness

  • Community without overwhelm

Many arrive as individuals and leave with a quiet sense of belonging—to themselves, to others, and to the moment.

An Invitation

The Slow Living Art Retreat is,

at its heart, an invitation:

To step away from constant doing

To reconnect with your creative rhythm

To experience Tulum beyond the surface

To remember how it feels to move slowly again
